Originally posted by PaddyBWell, for not being used to the French, you did an ok job with the Advance Variation (which is my personal favorite way to deal with it).
My game against sometimes7 has just finished.
Game 3505781
We both made some mistakes, mine mostly in the opening since I'm not used to playing against the french. I thought it was quite an interesting game overall and it would have been intersting to see how it continued if sometimes hadn't made the blunder to lose his rook.
Great use of pawns here. Good game, folks. See you in Round 2.

HeyDreza Vs. dpcc is well underway. For observation, please no comments that would affect play. Game 3506161
FYI- in the name of finishing up Game 3506161 so round 2 pairings can move forward, I've messaged my opponent re: synching up some online time so we can make faster progress. I guess someone's gotta finish last...
Originally posted by HeyDrezaDon't worry. That's why it's called CC. 🙂. Don't let the fact that you are last make you play faster and blunder.

I've just resigned Game 3506161, so Round 2 pairings can be made now.
I thought I was in a good position to draw or better until I let my opponent remove a defender that eventually won the exchange. Any advice on how my position could have been saved after that is appreciated. My understanding is that defending a RvsB endgame with pawns on the board is easier with pawns on one side, but I needed more that that. 😕
Originally posted by HeyDrezaYou played solidly in the opening, but you perhaps should have saved eXd6. I think it may have been premature. That was definately a tough endgame to eek out. Good game on both parts. Following will be the 2nd Round Pairings.
