emlasker vs heydreza 1-0
Game 3550159
I hated losing this game- it felt like a back-alley dogfight.
I *think* my big mistake was 16…exf instead of 16….RxR, 17. KxR, 17…Qh1 winning back the bishop but maybe my whole open the h -file gambit was too risky overall. Shoulda taken the 3-fold repetition draw when it was offered- shows how little I knew about the position. Comments are welcome.
Originally posted by HeyDrezaYeah, I agree with both of your thoughts.. I was surprised you didn't take the rook to win the bishop and a draw would have been a good result with your king under constant attack. I think the sacrifice to open the h-file could have worked (at least guaranteed a draw) since you had a powerful passed pawn. Very exciting game anyway!

Game 3550144 dpcc vs hammster21 1-0
I felt like I never really had any winning chances in this game, I know I messed up bad enough to go down a piece but I don't remember how. dpcc is a force to be reckoned with.
Originally posted by hammster21It looks like 18...Rcd7 was a better bet for you. It doubled your rooks on the d-file; adding pressure and removed the threat of White's dark-square Bishop on your rook. More importantly, it relieved the pin on your Knight, which was trapped a couple moves later. But, it was a good game with a tough, tactical middle-game. Good job, guys.

Originally posted by AlphaAlekhineMy Rook on c7 was defending my bishop on c5. He was attacking it with rook and queen and I was defending my bishop with rook and queen, I played the move that I did in the hopes of being able to move that bishop out of harms way so I could focus on defending the knight or counter-attacking, I misssed the move e4 which killed me and won a piece

Originally posted by hammster21Ah, yes. My mistake. I was giving all my attention to the pinned Knight. Don't mind me. 😛

Originally posted by chesskid001We didn't make it that far 😛. It was a tight game out of the Symetrical English. He offered me a draw once, and I declined, thinking that I had a superior position after I won the pawn back. But, sometimes7 forced the Queen trade, and the draw. I enjoyed the game, and he is a solid player. 🙂
