I've never heard of such a thing. I would consider calling your cc company up and asking them.

I've never heard of anything like that either. I'd be very suspicious. There's a lot of phishing going on out there on the internet.

Send Chess House an email using their website address, don't reply to the email "they" sent you.

Normally, when a site use https, the vendor doesn't even see the CC details. Basically, the bank comes back and says, "yes, you can proceed", and they send you the goods and sort out payment after.
