    I'm pretty sure black has a draw by perpetual check no matter what.
    It's mate in 2 for white, but black has perpetual check in 1

    Ke2 does the trick, but that doesn't lead straight to mate, it may still draw.

    Nope. 1. Ke2 gxf6 2.f8=Q looks drawish at best for white, since black can start checking.
