I have read in this post that if you make obscure tactical decisions or go for the wrong pieces, you will be banned for engine use? I do not understand? Should I not contemplate the game out for 15 or 16 moves for fear that I might be too "obscure" to be a human?

If you're looking 15/16 moves in multiple lines either your analysis stinks or you are the new Capablanca.

Oh no, wait a minute - when asked how many moves ahead he looked when analysing Capa said "1 move, the best one".
😛

Take the time to read cludi's post entitled Game mod FAQ's.

I have said this in many posts before, there is no difinitive way to have overwhelming evidence against engine abuse.

If you're not using an engine you won't get banned, it's as simple as that. Some wise ass will no doubt jump in after this post and say 'how do you know'. Well, to that i say this, find me someone who has been banned unfairly and we'll talk, other wise just get on with it.

Ditto.
Is anyone else getting really tired of this worn out discussion?

Seriously???
The O.P looks 15/16 moves deep! How often is that? In openings or middlegames or what?

Well if he is looking 15/16 moves deep then he won't match any commercial engine out there as their horizon is generally 10 moves at best. The reason for this is because the processing power needed to crunch 15 moves deep in all variations is just astronomically large!! We're talking literally billions of moves!

I think the most I've ever looked is a forced mate in 5.
Maybe in general, forcing lines I look 4 to 5 but that's it.
Like I said before 15/16 is either Deep Blue or Deep Cack!

16 moves? hahah, yeah right. you sound like you really know what you're talking about.

only a layman or rank beginner would think playing strong chess was about seeing 16 moves deep.

I don't care what strong chess is in your opinion. I do know that my version could beat yours.

16ply is only 8 moves deep.
