You might want to consider making this an official vote by contacting Russ. He's said in the past I believe that he's willing to put up votes if people want them, and it seems like this would be the best way (easiest, at least) of getting votes in. Maybe giving two votes per person so they don't have to pick a single game? Although judges would be helpful in deciding which games make the voting list (maybe like 10-15 best?).

Vipiu will ultimately win, imo, but there are still some good games to choose from other than his.

I think some of the higher rated players' games aren't being chosen because the tactics simply aren't played like they are at lower levels. For example, I believe someone found (or used their engine to find) a 13 move mating sequence in this game Game 1577085. I'm also very fond of players taking down strong engines, such as in Game 1682902 and Game 661930 (which is bound to end pretty spectacularly as well).

Yes, I was thinking about this earlier today, as well. Many of the games posted by higher rated players here seem to be much more strategic and subtle tactically, but no less impressive. It seems like there should be some kind of divide for voting, as the games are obviously in different classes. But drawing the line could get tricky.

If there were ever some sort of "Best Ever Game on RHP" I would hope there would be some sort of month long or more search, from which a select few would be chosen to be reviewed by a team of high rated players. As for voting, I simply can't trust my judgment on the quality of high level chess games; I see the beauty in long sacrificial lines like the Vipiu and Tasosveg games, but so much of the strategy and prophylaxis is lost on me in the Akizy, Seadevil, and Weyerstrass games. Therefore let players like Korch, Gatecrasher, David Tebb, Cludi, etc. choose, because we lower rated players just can't.

Fair enough for "best game ever on RHP", but I think some of my favorite games are flawed, and its the denouemont of an unexpected tactic, an out of the blue sac that makes a game immortal. Let us all choose! Count Isouard and a few fans of the singing Fat Lady would agree...

I agree with Ramiri15 that there should be at least a month to search for candidates for the best game before the final list is drawn up. Trying to pick the best game in just a few days is ridiculous.

I'm sure a lot of players have games that they are proud of and would like to include in the voting, but it can take some time to track them down. For instance I've played 1500 games on this site. Some of my best games were played several years ago but I can't always remember who my opponents were or exactly when the games were played. I will have to unarchive all my games and carefully go through them in order to find the ones that I was thinking of. That will take time. Someone who is more active than me and has played more games would need even longer to go through all their games in order to pick the best one.

Another factor that needs to be considered is that many of the strongest players on the site never read or post in the forums. For instance Weyerstrass has never posted anything. But isn't it likely that Weyerstrass has produced some very good games that should be included in a vote for the best game? It would be wrong to exclude all his games simply because he is unaware of this thread.

Man don't count this game. Seriously. I just posted it because of the ending position. That's all. Don't taint this competition with one of my games.

I found this game, David Tebb is right, it would take ages to go through each game, scrap the other ones I submitted if you hadn't already.

Okay from what I've seen so far, vipiu's game is by far best. Why don't we do it in a sort of ongoing way. If anyone over the next few months plays or finds a better game in looking through players like weyerstrass's game. post them and we'll get a consensus vote on whether it takes out Game 3967407.

fair enough?

Game 3477076
This was a game that was actually drawn by the Current, 4th place Stephane, Ive seen the games that is in his profile and he plays an awesome game this is one of my personal faves because it started with the Indian Defense, Which always seems to wokr out great for me personally. Awesome Game, and tough fight by both Sides.

Game 3999140 white's move 19 is admirable.
I find my games are getting worse. Can someone check them out and tell me what's wrong with them?😕

Well Lasker btw great Name E.Lasker is in my opinion one of the TOP chess minds of all time, but on your 12 move you move g6??? Opening your King up to attack, I wouldve moved my c5 pawn keeping my king defended, then he made a blunder on 19.Nf6 but you made it worse by moving BxN you and blocking your own Rook, You shouldve Taken instead with your Rook on f6 keeping him in the Game, thats really the only big mistakes I saw but then again the game didnt last to long itself.

Still I think a pretty nice game all together, just some blunders that killed you.

By far the best? I like Game 1682902 better. This was a true, long term positional sacrifice in every sense of the definition, and against Fritz 9 to boot!
