Agreed, especially as this is not K & B vs K so by saying mate cannot be had advice that may affect the course of this game has been given.

The correct thing for white to do now having been given assistance would be to offer a draw or nobally resign.

Although against the tos - in this game no damage was or can be done without suicide on opponents part - so you are all forgiven 😉

odoodsdudes hasn't done anything wrong. He asked a general question.
What about us answering this general question? No, we didn't do anything wrong either.
But to relate this answer to a specific game might be wrong.

In this case, it's just general question with a general answer, holding universally, so I don't see anything wrong here at all.

I find it odd that a person who has a 17-0 record is asking questions like what is a stalemate and whether a King and Bishop alone can give checkmate.

Following the creation of this thread, is the original poster more informed regarding the play in one of his/her *specific* games. Answer: yes!

Do you think it was pure coincidence that the original poster just decided to ask this question at this point in time? Or do you accept the reality that they were motivated by one of their games in progress?

That's not the point. There's nothing wrong with asking for general info that can be applied to a game in progress. To take an extreme example, if I ask "what time is it?" because I know I have to move by 5:00 and someone says "it's 4:30" is that a violation of the rule of discussing a game in progress?

there's no need to get into a gray area and 'debate' the issue for 200 posts like usually happens. it's a simple rule:

Yes there is, it's getting help from a third party and hence against the TOS. Did the original poster use the forum to assist with his/her game in progess or not?

There is no question about it that the creator of this thread intended to use the provided forum wisdom in his game in progress.

I agree with sh76. A person with a 17-0-1 record should know the answer to this question. Something smells fishy.
