Well, I did think to myself when I saw they were giving out financial prizes that it was going to be a major magnet for the cheats of this world and there would need to be some way to try and combat them.
whether it works or not remains to be seen, but chesscube has been quite a good site so far so I have some faith in their abilities.
Originally posted by homedepotov The Chess Cube site is really cracking down on cheats now! I got this message when I logged in:
"Fair-play monitoring now live!
We're combatting players who get assistance during games and ruin your rating points. To prevent this we monitor:
1) Users who leave chess cube frequently during a game
2) Game moves and how they compare to engine move ...[text shortened]... nings you are forced to resign
Players who appear to be getting assistance will be blocked"
They really put together a nice site at chesscube. They really do make improvements all the time, but getting a game with the time controls I want can be frustrating so I compromise to often. The chat area there is filled with a bunch of tards, but the admin respond quickly to inquiries and issues.

I had never heard either so thought i'd play a game over there ( i won which wa nice ) but they do warn if you move off site twice you have to resign - did not put this to the test - but not sure how they can monitor it - i regularly have facebook open etc when on the the computor and frequently jump sites !

what will happen if you leave chess cube frequently during a game:
We will warn you twice in the game
After 2 warnings you are forced to resign
Players who appear to be getting assistance will be blocked"
I'm lost... what does 'leave'....'during a game' mean ?? making a move and then 'leave' and come back in 10min and make another move? I take in OTB it would mean having too many loo breaks.. but in CC?

They can easily monitor your task switching in Windows and see if you're minimizing the ChessCube window.
However, this approach obviously doesn't work against people with two computers. 😵 The only sure means of killing cheats is running move matchups.
Originally posted by Anderssen Attack I'm sure they mean closing the window. Don't be retarded
but even though - how does that imply the use of an engine or anything fishy in particular? I just don't get the gist of it.. surely, running an engine sw (or any other sw app), doesn't require exiting Chess Cube application (i.e. 'leaving the game' bit) or does it?
SG's idea of running two computers side by side
(stop giving them ideas SG), has I bet been done
in an effort to avoid detection.
You don't know wether to admire them for their dedication
or pity them. Either way the satisfaction and joy of actually
playing is lost to them.
Match ups and if you can, actually knowing the player is
the best way to catch them.
Chess Cubes next strategy may be to access their electricity bill
and see if there has been a sudden increase in voltage since joining
thus proving they run two computers.

LMAO!!
Still I laud ChessCube for the attempt and actually created an account there in support. Maybe I'll even play some games there.
