what did I do wrong, any better moves I could have made?

Noah's Ark trap got you, when playing the Ruy the knight doesn't sit well on c3, the usual Ruy move with that knight is b1-d2-f1 then e3 or g3. On c3 it blocks the advance c3 and then d4 keeping up White's big centre and allowing the bishop to drop into c2. Instead of d4, 0-0 was a safer bet.

Noah's Ark Trap? Never heard of it?! Must look that one up... thanks for the advice on 10 Bxf7+ should have played that... :-/

on move 5 could u have casteled insted of knc3? just a thought I have herd this is ok. is it Thanks Kevin
