man, since I started this site ive found a recurring theme. a lot of ppl throw in the towel before the end game has even started simply because down a bishop or a knight. It is getting frustrating. I mean sure I love the points, but i'm human my end games $#i? so why not battle it out?

If I'm a B down with no counterplay against a player at my level or higher, I am lost, I will resign. Anything else is rude and prolongs my agony.

For example Game 2707373 is lost as is Game 2573219. Why would I want to play on in either?

For one thing, "no counterplay" is a matter of opinion. If you truly are in agony then by all means resign. However, if you still feel the spirit of the game and you're not a baby about losing, then by all means play on.

I can understand what you mean. This person realised they had no strong counterplay when I took early control of the centre.

No wonder white resigned, his opponent managed to jump 3 spaces in his first move, must have freaked him out!

it is true that when playing an equal player and are down material it is hard to come back. But i've seen some amazing comebacks in my time. Maybe im just bitter that i dont ever get t opractise my end game. 😕

If there are chances of a come back play on.

For example in Game 2708430 [in progress at time of writing so no comments] I am an exchange down but I am not yet ready to resign as the open lines might yet create opportunities for my B pair, although I suspect in a few more moves I will change my mind.

I really don't understand why not resigning is rude. Isn't checkmate the object of the game?
