Look at my "oh-so-controversial" post. It was actually on topic and providing information.

I'd advise you to do the same, or leave. It isn't necessary for you to post in every thread.

I read all the thread, sorry if sarcasm passes very often over my head. Really I don't care; I'm ready to be flamed 🙂 I've take your comment literally. Sorry.

Peace dottewell.

Thanks for that.

For those still reading(!), all of DT's games in the tournament, and his simul win against Kasparov, are available at ChessGames.

Tough loss for Dave in round 5. At a quick glance, it appears his decision to force/allow the exchange of all the rooks wasn't strategically wise given that Black's Queen had far more mobility than White's. That's IMHO.

I can't disagree, your assessment looks pretty spot on to. Ain't hindsight great! 😀😀

It's a pity, up until the rooks are swapped the game looked pretty even, i'd even go as far as to say white looks a little better in the early middle game but what do i know...

Thanks. I'll need it. I've got black against an IM today.

Although he's only rated 2422. So by gambit's standards he must be a very weak player!
Man, 2422? Man that's a weak playing strength. He need sto study soe more. YEAH! RIGHT! Good luck! 🙂

I thought 4 Nge2 against the Winawer is an interesting line; I've had a lot of problems with the Winawer and might give it a go next time I see it.

And yes, hindsight is a really wonderful thing when you're analyzing players' games who are much better than you are.

So R6 draw with a 2370ish player, with a 2000-ish player to follow tomorrow. And still only two points off the lead.

Very impressive.

A crushing win today against the French Defence !

Results and game scores from R7 should be online in a few minutes or so.

Round 8 Pairing:

15 MIEZIS,Normunds 2527 (4) - TEBB,David 2231 (4) 10 45

Only a point and a half behind Nigel; he is having a great tournament!

Only 1.5 points behind the leaders! Plays black against GM Normunds Miezis tomorrow - his strongest opponent yet in the competition.

McShane vs Short on the top board should be a corker too.

EDIT: Yuga beat me to it!
