You have to admire Fievel's guts. However Fritz makes its living devouring the guts of foolhardy players. It's the Grendel of the chess world, for the Anglo-Saxon fans.
Originally posted by FeivelI think Dan Heisman (in the CB CD 'The Computer Analyzes the Fried Liver and Lolli) claims that Nxa1 is equals, whilst the 'recommended' Nd4 leaves White a little better.
What happens after Kd1...Nxa1? The rook isn't in the game so why take it and lose a necessary defender?

Not seen the CD, but have seen his Traxler one and wasn't impressed by the analysis there, so that assessment should be treated cautiously.
Good line to play against Fritz this - so many variations that hopefully clear assessments of lines will be beyond its horizon.
Originally posted by OsseHeisman is wrong. Nxa1 removes a much needed defender from black's army and black needs all his pieces.

Originally posted by FeivelI've never played either side of the Fried Liver Attack that I can recall. And I'll add that after seeing the opening of this game I'm now certain I never will, but... I think I've gotten hooked on this game. I'm finding myself rooting hard for Feivel (the human). This thread and game are good ideas.

Nxa1 seems bad to me also. Black can certainly trade down later, but right now there are bigger fish to fry. Black needs every knight he can get his hands own so trading one off for a useless rook may be fine if you're heading into an endgame and already up a little material, but certainly not right now.
I'm really interested in white's next move.
Originally posted by wibAs am I. I am interested to see the silicon monster's full game because I don't think it will win. Right now I am giving Fritz a 5 percent chance if it gets out of this tactical slugfest alive. In either event, I will get out of this alive. If I can survive the ending (even with the advantage I will have) remains to be seen. After all Fritz is running on a duel processor but if it's opening is any indication, Fritz is gonna be renamed Fried Fritz.

Originally posted by buddy2I have Fritz 5 and I never upgraded. i have played Fritz 8 on here (agreed upon beforehand) and I never lost. Shredder 8 is another story. Although I have never lost, I have only drew it. Fritz i beat quite handily and CM was one of my easier games 🙂
Just out of curiosity, do you have Fritz yourself. Have you played any practice games with the monster?
