Can the number of games in progress have a negative effect on your rating?

Ex: User 332714 has 962 in progress at this moment!

I wish I had the free time to be able to handle that many games in progress.

If I had that much free time, I wouldn't waste it playing THAT MUCH chess. I clicked 2 of their games... 0/21 and 3/7. They must need to make hundreds of moves each day.

This month he had moved 3557 times (now). That means that he's doing (approx) 350 moves a day on average.
Is this really fun? Or is it a labour.
I wonder if he or she is married? And have children? When did he have time to do them?

Chess should be fun. I don't find it fund when I have more than 50 games and always have to think of the games risqueing time outs first.

I'm sure he goes over all his games once they are done. He sure must be learning a lot from all those games

I am playing 2 of those games. He is playing reasonably well and moving pretty quickly.

Edit: About 6 months ago I thought I'd try and see what it took to get into the top 100 movers in the month so I took on a load of games against the fastest movers on the site. Most of them were weak and I made the 90s but the investment in time was significant even though I was able to blitz most games. I did win most but my opponents were generally rated 1200-1500. How anyone can play decent chess at this rate is beyond me.

Many of the super-100 players are not progressing, they stand still at the same rating, like forever. nI'm sure that if they play fewer games then their rating will progress considerably.

It's about quantity or quality. You can't have them both. This is my own experience. When I have too many games going, my rating will decrease.

the same amount of moves as in 10 blitz games. he could be doing his daily moves in less than an hour, although I doubt it.

I agree on not learning much with that kind of a game load, but then again, he might not be interested in learning.

If we assume he spends ~10-15 seconds per move, it takes only about 1-1.5 hours to play those 350 moves.

You think over 3500 moves is bad... there is a guy with over 10,000 moves this month already!!

His rating shows it.

If I could open a 2nd account I would do so, take on 1000 games and make the 1st move that came into my head.

It would be interesting to see what that did to my rating.

I recently reduced my game load and it made very big difference I went from 60 games in progress and getting top 150 MAP of the month. Now I have less then 30 games in progress and my rating jumped just take a look at my graph. In the past 22 games I have 19W 2D 1LšŸ˜€
