I did post this in another thread..which seems to have been removed now.

While I think it might be possible (but pretty time consuming) to do 100+ games at 2000 level...take the example of 87 moves a day, normal OTB games you will make about 35-50ish moves in 90+ mins so 87 correspondence moves a day you are probably looking at at least 3 hours day after day, probably more since the standard of play in correspondence chess is much higher...anyway at 87 correspondence moves a day I think most people would start to suffer from chess burn out.....you get GMs who play week long tournaments and by the end of it they are all saying they are just shattered....to keep playing at that level for long periods of time you have to be special 😛

Id say the normalish max for good player is around 40-50, although there will be real players who are an execption to this.

I see your point. Some people are playing 100-200, sometimes 200-300 games at once. It all depends on how much time you have per day. I would recommend dedicating at LEAST 45 seconds per move. So if you have 45 minutes per day, play 60 games (i understand some don't move and need time out)

Non-subscribers obviously 6 is best

I had thirty games on the go at once at one stage, and I blundered several times.

Personally I don't think I can play more than fifteen or so without a big impact on my results.

I don't tend to think too long over my moves, and the comment earlier about it being like playing a simultaneous display really rang true!

I tend to start taking more time over difficult games when it is too late! I have three lost positions I'm trying to save at the moment.

My game suffers when I'm playing more than 35-40 games at once. That usually means no more than 20 here, as I play at other sites too.

45 seconds is longer than many moves need in familiar openings and technically won endgames, as well as forcing combinations. But I've spent several hours on a single move in more games than I can count. Investing more than 20-30 minutes on a move usually means revisiting the position several times over a few days.

I've played 7 day per move games in which I feel rushed.

Well, let's take a look at your games. You have 22 active games and your average opponent strength is 1951. It would've been higher but you have two games with a 1311 player. However, it's actually a good example because everyone has games against high and low opponents.

So in order to continue this correlation if you played nearly 5 times the number of games you already have going, which would give you 110 games, your average opponent rating would be 1951. In order to get the average strength up to the 2000 level you'd have to play even tougher opponents.

Do you think you could play 5 times your current number of opponents? I don't know about you but to play at the level you are suggesting, I would find it humanly impossible.

I made the mistake of joining 3 tournys that i could, and now I have like 120 games going at once. I'm totally swamped, and I'm never makeing that mistake again.

I've done the 40 concurrent games thing - and it isn't fun. Notice how my rating flatlined for a while, and now is starting to rise - this is probably due in part to my decreased game load (which I am once again working on decreasing!). 20 games seems to be a superb amount.

I'm comfortable with 60-70 games, but I play here for fun and don't spend more than 20 seconds on most of them.

Right the thing is to remember if you can't handle that much don't join as many clans, tournements, and close your challenges

I tend to play lots of games with longish time controls (most of them are 7/7 or longer). I also like sprints, which are easier to play when the majority of your other games aren't needing moves right away. I generally move quickly in all of my games regardless of time control, but that really depends on the position and how much time I have. I don't move in every game every day either, which helps keep burnout low.

I find that hard to believe.

20 seconds? Come on.

One thing many people are forgetting is that 50 games != 50 moves per day. Most time controls have at least a 3 day timeout and a timebank to boot...

Personally I like to be able to put some thought into my middlegames and the more complex endgames, therefor I limit myself to 50-80 games. Mostly though I just whip out whatever move looks good.
