I'm in a losing position. He's lower rated than I am. I've had three chances to time this guy out. I can't click the skull. I have hardly any chance of winning. And yet, I can't click.... someone post something so I can click the skull

It's humbling to learn that people face such difficult challenges in life.

I too am hesitant to click skulls at times. I think my rating has inflated by about 50-70 points because of all the skulling I've done.

To make myself feel better I check my opponents current games and see if he has been timed out in at least one of them. If he has then I join the crowd and skull him as well 🙂

Boo on timing people out. What's there to learn from it if you just time em' out?

time him out. It's within the rules, don't feel ashamed for doing it.

Not only is it within the rules, it is completely acceptable and forms part of the game at the highest level.
When World Champions play it isn't just a test of their skill, it is a test of their ability within time controls. Many players have lost on time, or lost because of time in that they didn't manage their clock and ended up blundering.
In correspondence chess, time controls are there for the same reason - there HAS to be a limit on how long your opponent gets to move, or the game would have no etiquette or discipline whatsoever. All players are informed adults, and all know of the time controls when they accept a game invite. If they are prone to being away from their computer for many days, they should set long time controls then you wouldn't play them. It is no fairer to make you wait than it is for you to claim the win. I always claim timeouts, and yes they have probably put me 50 rating points higher than I deserve, but in tournament chess I might have derived the same through OTB time controls.
His problem, not yours, but if you are still torn, send one private message saying "last chance, you have 12 hours to move". Then if he doesn't you wont feel bad as he will see you had the decency to message him.

People know from my profile that "I never remind, I always take skulls."
If they don't like it they shouldn't let their games go to time out.
Timing out is a part of the game and perhaps I have 50 points more in my rating compared to my actual skill.

I just don't understand this aptitude. It's like not checkmating your opponent because it will upset them. For Dog's sake click on the skull and them send your opponent a message taunting them about what you've done.

What if you were playing OTB and his little clock ran out? Would you call the arbiter over and say nonono let him play on? It's just like the clock in an OTB match.

Isn't this a pseudo discussion?

Click the skull or don't. It's your choice. Could be easier?
Or...
If your time has run out? Then you give your opponent the right of clicking the skull. Surprised? Didn't you know that the rules in RHP permits this?
