After a sudden win, I went up to 1720.
From here it is all downhill. Where will it end? Were will it end? 😞

1700 is not bad but not good enough to be considered as a ' good chess player '

Yes, that is why out of 20000 active players on this site only 1500 or less are higher than that.

1700 is an "average" club player

Overall it is significantly above average.

Among the people who knows how to play chess (say 500 000 000 people world-wide) you are in upper 10% judging by your rating here... Most people know to play chess, someone of them even like to play it, but mostly they do not cross 1200 or so.

My score against my dad is about 30-0 in last 30 games. He plays at maybe 1000-1100 rating. And he is average.

If you said 1600-2000 is average CLUB player that would be closer maybe. Look at the FIDE rating distribution chart, you'll be surprised.

Our club average is ECF 110.
    As a very rough translation ECF x 5 + 1250 = ELO
Therefore the average ELO at Crawley is 1800.

I drew with an ECF 128 last night. Yay for me!
