Hi, During my game id 7311655. I advanced my pawn 2 places on white move 36. The game log reflects this move. However my pawn is then impossibly taken by black pawn.
Where do i go from here - Should the game get cancelled??Game 7311655

22000+ moves???
Hang your head in shame.
There's also a thing where you can move two pieces in one move, it's called castling, just so you know.
😞
Strange.
A quick flick through your games and I found two previous examples of
En Passant in your games from last year.
Game 5997438 (move 53) from March 2009.
Game 6891118 move 42 when you resigned straight after an En Passant capture.
You never said anything then...... 😕
Mr Ice Cold - Can it really be? An American with a sense of humour albeit a sarcastic one.? Why thank you for your wit kind Sir! Much more of that old thing and i shall box your ears on the cobbles. However, there is some truth to your comment. I have played probably 2000 games over the last 5 years on various sites and have never seen that before. Back to playing Halo on my xbox360 - mindless shooting - far more simple and oh so less annoying.
I still am a tad dissapointed in that move as i think it is a kind of cheating. I wonder where and why it came about?

If we're lucky, Greenpawn will answer your question as to why en passant was made a rule. If not GP maybe one of the other more articulate posters will explain it. Or bring up a link to where the rule's history was explained.
