can anyone advise if there is a rule as to how many moves a king has when on it's own at the end of a game, before a draw is called

From the FAQ:

No piece capture or pawn movement has occurred for over 50 consecutive moves (100 half moves). Therefore the game has not progressed and a draw may be claimed by either player during their next move.

but if ur opponent has only a king too, u dont have to wait. Just claim the draw!

Hi

Just played over the game in question.

Quite a game - White missed a cracking mate in 2 starting with a Queen sac.

Black missed a mate in one allowing the game to go for another 30 moves.
