Hi, I started a new thread cos the last one got a bit polluted by everybodys favourite troll.
This is what has been posted so far regarding move 6...
Gambit3
6. .... Nd7.

Ok, our iron friend has played Nf3. Nothing out of the ordinary there. I agree with gambit, 6...Nd7. This keeps the white kinght off of e5 and helps develop our queenside.

6. ... Nd7 (3)
I'd just like to remind people that this is the discussion thread. If you have a move you want to put forward, state your reasons here, and after a while, we'll put the proposed moves to the vote in a seperate thread.
Ok, so the game is Game 868388
And it looks like...
I think Nd7 looks good as well. Possible responses are Bc4 or h4. My guess is he's going to play h4, allowing us to play h6 to tuck away the bishop. If he does play h4, we should develop with the intention of castling queen side I think.
Does anybody have any links to resources on this opening, as I haven't a clue what the aims/objectives of the Caro Kann are.
Cheers,

Black to move.
h4 it is. I reckon we can only play h6 cos his next move is h5. The only other option is f5, but that's unplayable.
I'll only leave this move here for a short time as the options are small 😉, or should I just go ahead and make the move?

I reckon you should just make it.

[EDIT] Assuming he does play h5, then our only viable option is Bh7. Unless somebody can come up with a darn good reason for the Bxc2 bishop sac, I'm just going to make that move.
[Edit2]
h5 played. I'll leave it for a few hours to see if anybody can come up with something amusing for playing Bxc2.

White's gonna dictate play for a little longer. He may try to trade off our light-squared bishop with Bd3 for his next move. He develops his kingside and we have to decide whether to initiate the trade or wait to recapture after he takes our h7 bishop. Trading pieces is not bad for black at all. Development is slow and white has more space, so trading is perfectly fine. It'll also help limit any possible future attacks from white on our kingside.
We've got ..Nf6 ...e6 and ...Be7 to look at soon. That's about it unless someone sees something much better.
Eventually we're gonna gain space on our queenside and take a crack at the c5 square. But a lot still depends on what white plays.

I've seen it in one other game he's playing at the moment, where he also offers up the bishop exchange (Bd3), so I guess that's what he's going to do. From the database at chesslab, it seems that Bxd3 is the only reply.
I'm going to move Bh7 now. No point hanging around here.

Yup, he played Bd3. Any alternatives to Bxd3? I think he's still on autopilot in this game, judging by the speed that he's making his moves. After his move of 10. Qd3, we'll finally be in a position where we have more than one option.
