Does anyone know if this is sound in the context of the English - and also what Black and White's optimum continuations should be?

1.c4 b5 - although I believe there's no reason why 1...b5 can't be delayed until the usual Nc3, Nf6 moves associated with the English are prevailed, just as the b4?! move in the Sicilian Wing Gambit can be delayed in that opening.

1.c4 b5 looks like a big nonsense. Idea similar with 1.e4 c5 2.b4!?, but with one tempo down.

Yes, like I was saying, it reminds me of the SWG - but the apparent similarities between the English and the Sicilian are deceptive and misleading sometimes, and I was wondering if there wasn't an additional parallel with the sound Reti Gambit against the French.

I only know that the polish opening has been played by Spassky (against 1.d4)
