Yep. looks like they Mixed it up in a QGA.
Wonder if Anand needed the point?

You always need the point in competitions like that. He was however out in the lead, so hes probably tied or only half a point back now.

Why would we think you were kidding?? According to ChessGames.com, Vishy holds only a 12-10 advantage (with 18 draws) overall against Gata. I realize Gata came back last year after a long layoff and he hasn't had a good tournament thus far, but he's certainly capable of beating anyone on a given day. You don't get a 2700+ by being a patzer.

unless your a PatzerGrandmaster. The rare breed of supermasters who managed to get a title by beatling lowly IMs and Losing to GM's.......🙄

Actually, Gata his dipped down to around 2680. That said, he is still an excellent player. I just ran through the game, Gata really played a nice endgame to convert the full point.

I've seen Gata hanging around the Marshall CC. Also have a few other GM's who like to play there.
When they all play each other, they either gain or lose points. The go out an play other GM's who they dont play as much, and then their getting used to the changing style of play, and a different opponent.
If i played only a core group of players in a club for a long time, then played other players, it might be good or bad, depending on the mindset.
Just my thoughts.
Maybe kamsky got better, by playing a lot, and the other GM's got rusty.

Does anyone else think it is a little odd that the US GM is Russian?

No. I think you're a little odd for bringing such a trivial matter up. He's lived in the US since 1989 and is a citizen. http://www.chessgames.com/player/gata_kamsky.html

Poor guy. I wish I was a lowly 2680!

I'm sure he'd only be 1500 if he had to play all his moves quickly during brief library visits! 😵
