Thank-god. I'm sure that most are pleased with this result.

Many are. myself included. I am really happy that we have a unified champion and had some exciting games today. I'm still not convinced that I like quick chess as a tiebreaker but it was fun. I just hope that if Kramnik does sue FIDE that it doesn't start this all over again.

FIDE have proved (again) that they cannot be trusted. Kramnik should take his title and walk away with it. Rather than starting yet another breakaway organisation, perhaps he could use the title as a bargaining chip to ensure that FIDE is not allowed to run the World Championship, or indeed any other major tournament, ever again.

Interesting theory. However, how is different from what Kasparov did? Besides, it does appear as if we will have some matches next year (I'm awaiting Bacrot vrs. Kamsky in New Orleans!). As long as they stick to match play and classic time controls (I may give them the rapid tie breaks) I will be happy.

The title belongs to Fide, not to the reigning World Champion.

The title belongs to FIDE? Then what are you going to tell Steinitz, Lasker, Capablanca, Alekhine, and Euwe? P.S. The tile of Grand Master is also pre FIDE as well.

Before Euwe the title of World Champion belonged to the reigning World Champion. After Euwe it belonged and still belongs to the Fide.

I am glad that Topalov lost. Too me Topalov is the FIDE Champion and was fighting for FIDE. Kramnik is the World Champion and he was fighting for all the World Champions form Morphy? to Kasparov. This time Kramnik gave us a good fight. This could have been a great Title Match but for the FIDE circus.

FIDE has exercised power over the Title. FIDE has also mishandled its power over the Title. They have made it a political football. There is too much politics in chess. They have made chess more politics then sports.

There was in fact a later break in the ownership that you may have missed. 1993-2006.

Where did you get such delusions from? Who said Kramnik is walking away/ starting yet another breakaway organisation?
