Seriously, you guys need to stop looking for trouble where it doesn't exist. Black is no more a slight than "Negro" was, or "Caucasion" is. Racism was and always is the attitude behind what is being said. There was nothing racist behind the topic of this thread, and working hard to make something so innocuous appear racist just trivializes the real issue of racism.

Jump on real racism when it appears. Leave everything else alone.

The problem goes back to the banter at Youtube in the comments under the movie. Very racist. Did you read any of that? Please do and let us know your thoughts then.

I don't think anyone cares that he used the word black as opposed to some other word - it's the idea that he used any racial identifier at all, when he almost certainly wouldn't have if it were a white kid.

Not that it's a big deal; as I said before, it hardly makes the OP a racist, it just is one of those interesting little things that shows some sort of low-level bias towards thinking of blacks as different than the norm.

But you're right about one thing - nobody should be accusing the OP of being a "racist" based on just the thread title, seeing as how many people do this sort of thing regularly.

if the room was full of black grown-up boxers, kasparov was replaced with lennox lewis, chess replaced with chess boxing, and the Opponent was a little white kid. the kid could even cheat and win just like in the real ad.

would you make a fuss about someone writing "little white kid beats up lennox lewis!"

although I'm sure there are people who would manage to miss the forest behind the tree in that case as well. somehow the kid being white would mean the whole black world was mocked, and every white spectator would be the cause of it all. and that's simply insane.

and phlabby, I think I had to read about three pages of comments before I saw the racist idiot there. I've never read the comments before, and I can't really see what kept your interested up to that point. I would never have bothered to read any of it, had you not insisted that there was racist commenting there. I doubt many people manage pass the first couple of comments, there's just no content whatsoever. it's all "pig flipz car lolz111!" one post after another. static noise. useless nonsense.

Here we are a week or so later. That topic was page one and two when the tread first came up. Reading it now I guess you'd need to go pretty far back, and I have not been back to read any of the update since I first saw it, and posted here.

Again, again, again... I wondered about the original posters intentions of posting this based on that line of posting at the time. I now don't believe their intention was to bring a racist subject here, having seen a couple of their posts.

Yes, it was one idiot, and I'm also glad so many people pointed out what an idiot that user was.

Groan. Have you been reading what I wrote?

Here is the cliff notes.

Good movie at Youtube

Bad conversation

Phlab wonders why RHP user linked to said movie and has need to point out child is black.

Look, I expect that crap at a crappy place like Youtube. I WAS wondering what the poster's intentions were when they linked to it. I HAD felt they did it because of the crappy racist posting. They have said that was not their intentions, and I'll take the user's word for it.

Your "then complain at youtube, not here" request doesn't make sense at all if you've been following the thread.

What shall we call the black pieces in chess then?
Has pc gone to far - I'd tend to say yes although from the title debate when you think about it,it should of just said little boy/little kid.
I've not watched it and not bothering to,just the pc stuff is way over the top.

I haven't heard anyone imply that the pieces in chess have anything to do with race.

I've heard people get over-sensitive over some issues out of a misplaced sense of what people would call "political correctness" definitely.

However, almost as often I've seen the excuse of "hey, I'm just not politically correct" being used as an excuse to express racist (to whatever degree) sentiments.

Stop it, you are making the rest of us look rather silly.

There is a problem with race here in America, and apparently most if not all of the industrialized world, let's not bring it here.
