Primary Focus: The core identity of the site is slow, turn-based correspondence chess where players manage multiple games over days or weeks.
Secondary Feature: Live chess is included as a quick, casual feature for users to play rapid games while browsing forums or waiting for correspondence turns, rather than for hosting deep, long-form rapid or classical over-the-board matches.
Server Resource Allocation: Keeping live matches capped at a maximum of 30 minutes helps manage server resources and encourages users looking for longer, uninterrupted time controls to use the site's main daily chess infrastructure.
@cosmic-energy4 saidI don't fully understand your post but the intention of the live chess is to have quick games; if a player wants longer time-frame games then they just play on the normal site.
@Martin; In that case why not have this one starting 0 hrs to whatever is at the moment in days ?.
@Martin; What if I want to play 45 minutes a game, I can't on life and on normal site start at one hr. minimum. But if on normal site starts from 0,you will be able to play fast or slow.
@cosmic-energy4 saidYou will either have to play 30 minute chess on the live section or i day on the normal site.

My original reply explained the intention of live chess is for quick games, also server capacity.
@Martin; I already pointrd much simpler is to have one site starting from zero and so on instead two sites.
@cosmic-energy4 saidI have no idea as to why there are two areas; I imagine it was set up that way so it was easier to find quick games in one area and longer games in another.

All I can suggest is that you send feedback to Russ if you feel that strongly.
