Taking inspiration partly from Ragnorak's first annotation and also my attempts to get back into playing the Bird's, this is my first shot at annotation. Bear in mind this is my first attempt so might not be what people usually write down, but I've heard its intuitive, so let's see.
1. f4
c5
2. Ng1f3
e6
3. d3
Ng8f6
4. g3
Nb8c6
5. Bf1g2
d5
6. O-O
g6
7. d4 {taking a grip of the centre. (If 7...cxd then exhange knights and Q is developed with no attack from black)
c4
8. Nb1c3 {blocking pawn advance, developing a piece and planning for e4}
Bf8g7
9. b3 {allowing for fianchetto. Offers 9...cxb but then cxb and white has the centre}
a6
10. bxc4 {settings up for e4 if black takes back. If not then 11. Re1 for all out assault on e4
dxc4
11. e4 {So black takes and e4 arrives, giving control of the centre to white}
Nf6h5
12. g4 {attacking the knight and developing King side pawns. It seemed as good a time as any}
Nh5f6
13. g5 {keeps pressure on the knight, looking to hem in the dark bishop}
Nf6h5
14. e5 {effectivly locks out both black bishops from the centre. Black loses tempo if he wants to develop dark bishop
Bg7f8
15. a3 {prevents attack on my undefended knight which is awaiting deployment}
b5
16. Nc3e4 {Knight moves into centre to avoid attack and is keeping an eye out for the weak f6 square}
h6
17. Bc1e3 {protects d4 and is looking ahead to d5, Nf6 and a strong attack}
Nc6a5
18. Bg2h3 {next phase of the "f6 plan"; removing the defending knight off h5}
Nh5g7
19. d5 {Which he does so kindly for me, so d5 sets up a future Bc5}
Bc8b7
20. Ne4f6 {Here comes the attack; black must play Ke7}
Ke8e7
21. Be3c5 {To which white responds Bc5+ to win the queen}
Qd8d6
22. Bc5xd6 {Needs no explaining}
Ke7d8 1-0
After Kd8, I was hoping to play dxe, which would attack the king and protect d6 from Bxd6.
I hope you guys can read this and make some sense of it, and maybe give me some advice or criticism, both on the game and annotation, as I want to do this more often.
