Isn't it checkmate?
Not just alright then, is it?
Well, yes of course. But, I think your missing the bigger picture. Nybble's unique genius transcends traditional labels like checkmate.

Take a look at the following gem from his ever expanding collection.

Game 2157725

It makes me laugh every time!

Almost? Almost? Calling this almost suicide chess is like calling the Mona Lisa almost a painting.

Nybble has taken suicide chess to a new level and transformed into an art form!

Look at the following game again, see the way he sacrifices his Queen in order to force the Knight off of f6 and clear the way for Qh4+? Pure Genius!

The funniest there is that the 1449 misses checkmate on move 2....

Edit: make that move 3.

I'm wondering if the 1449 was just trying to be nice, until Nybble just tried his patience to much. However, if he missed the mate; that is sad!

I'm telling you, the best game is the one below. I missed it at first, but Nybble's opponent actually resigns this one. That's hilarious and sad!

He probably thought it was a long term sacrifice

Just started an un-rated game against him for a laugh. Any guesses on how quick i'll finish him off?

EDIT: Forget it, he resigned after 2 moves.

Nybble appears to have run out of patience for people who don't take the mate as these two games illustrate.

Game 2163312

Game 2163927

Actually, I'm starting to wonder what kind of idiot carries this on? Maybe the fun lies in seeing how many players miss the mate at h4?

" Here are some openings I'd avoid if under 2000:
Scheveningen Sicilian
Najdorf Sicilian
Semi-Slav Defense
King's Indian Defense
Gruenfeld Defense
Queen's Gambit Accepted
Modern Defense
Winawer French
Main Line English Opening

These openings require good strategic decisions right after the opening moves are played. It is not easy to know what to do next. Bad bishops are in particular hard to deal with. "

" The Dragon, Accelerated Dragon, Lakser-Pelikan-Sveshnikov and Kan/Paulsen are all strategically easier Sicilians, even if the tactics can get complex. The Caro-Kann, Tarrasch Defense, Nimzoindian/Queen's Indian are straightforward strategically and much easier to play.

The main thing to remember, is that if you aren't a Kasparov or Fischer, what the heck are you doing trying to play their custom repertoires! "

a good comment, isnt it ? 🙂

So what does Eric Schiller play?

I think Schiller's comments are rubbish!

Yep Eric Schiller is well known for 'chatting breeze". I read somewhere that he is renowned for making untrue claims that he coached some of the best players in the US, when those players were asked about it, they said they had never spoken to him. I've read part of his "Encyclopedia of Chess Wisdom" which i wasted £10 on 😞, he seems to have far too ...[text shortened]... got to say. Give me the opinions of Kotov, Keres, Vukovic, Silman, but not Eric Schiller.
I have one book by Schiller. "A Complete Opening Repetoire for Black" In it he recommends the Schevinigan against e5. I guess he wants to write a new book on the Scheveshnikov.
