Do you think some of the higher lvl engine users lose on purpose or throw away moves now and again just to say "if I was using an engine would I make this blunder"?
Always seems to be a few suspicious losses on their graphs somewhere. Must be games where they tried making some of their own moves eh?
Originally posted by DeepThoughtYes. That is obviously a cheater, as no strong player would ever make such a simple mistake and allow a stalemate in this way. Couple that with just a small amount of further evidence (as we all make the occasional stupid mistake) and it is conclusive.

Eventually such an obvious position will come up for all cheaters but it could take a long time.

Game 2591385 Here's another good one. A battle between two engine users ends in the bigger idiot playing until mate 😵.
I found another one a while ago as I was looking through the graphs on the banned players list; it was a game that lasted something like 60 moves that was obviously drawn 20 moves before. But the two players' engines didn't give up and they kept making useless bishop moves until someone finally got a clue and offered a draw. Unfortunately I couldn't find it again (though digging for it uncovered that gem up there).

Can they accuse someone cheat if he reduces the level of his engine enough to win? Banned players all have a long time here, dont understand they cheat for what.
a weak player can't just use the engine only for the critical positions, because not being able to spot those positions is exactly what makes him so weak. he will also drop a lot of material on those 'easy' moves he'll make himself, for lack of board vision. so the only way for him to do well is to cheat systematically, which is easy to catch.

edit: ugh, I just checked again. It's not the official "banned" seal. He just entered that as his profile. LOL. Sorry doccotoanbai!

If his opponent rate is 1500, he can adjust engine level to 1700 or dont take the best suggestion. Winning but not dominate his opponent, no beautiful sac, who could think he cheat?

it saddens me that people's lives are so shallow and meaningless that the only way they can boost their self esteem is by getting a high rating on a gamesite by cheating. what's at stake really? nothing, so why even do it? i realize that people using chess engines are a constant problem/threat to those who dont at any CC site. i like playing here because hopefully i can improve by having the extra time to think out a move and move the piceces around the see how it all shakes out, but at the end of the day it still is just a game. i'd rather lose knowing i gave it my best effort than win knowing it really wasnt me making the moves.

not to mention how stupid it would be to risk getting banned for 200 points.
