I had 2 games against him - in first he won me against my Latvian Gambit, but in second he was overplayed in strategy and with positional exchange sacrifice I got advantage, but this game was still unfinished.
Only 50 players are graded above 2100. How many of them are cheating?
It almost seems there are no genuinely strong players here.
I have felt uncomfortable against a few on their way up but none banned yet. Feel when you never seem to have any chances in a game that its a little iffy but behond that don't know how it is possible to tell bar the sort of obvious patzer engine moves (eg throwing away pieces to delay mate as long as possible rather than play the "inferior" line that creates the chance of a blunder).
jimster has lost games but how and why did that come about if he was using an engine. I find if you put the average middle game position in an engine it comes up with a dozen moves within, say, .25 pawns and cycles through 6 of them being best if left to "think" for 5-10 minutes. So how do you determine someone used an engine. Even a novice stands a good chance of choosing one of those move quite often.

Originally posted by Dragon FireThat's right, a novice CAN find good moves but not at a 90-95% rate. Not even Kasparov would match that percentage, he would probably come up with moves Fritz doesn't even consider good and then win. The reason players get banned is a careful analysis of the game vs what some engine/CPU combination would pick. You can get a pretty good indication by just the shape of their profile chart, flat ones are usually cheaters. If you look at mine, it looks like a mountain range which is what people usually do, win some, go on a losing streak, go downhill, then your brain starts working again and the graph jumps up, etc.

Matching Fritz is another matter.

Cheating is probably easier to detect at high levels, but face it, there is no way to tell if someone occasionally cheats.
I've faced more than one person here who I would get a substantial lead on because they would make horrible moves, then all of a sudden they would improve to GM like skill for the rest of the game. leaving me shaking my head in bewilderment at their sudden knowledge level!
Cheating around here is rampant at all levels I believe.
At least its detectable fairly accurately at the supposed higher skill levels.
