I know using engines to help decide moves is banned on here, but I'm wondering if using databases and opening books programed into them is alright. I know that the chessmaster program has a massive game and opening database, but I don't want to break any rules. Is it allowed?

Databases are allowed if you don't have to open the engine itself to generate them.

If you turn the engine off you can still view the DB in the GUI though - which should be allowed.

I have found that chesslive.de works better in Internet Explorer than Firefox.
