I can't get my grips on it. No matter what I do.... 😞
I'm willing to learn some stuff on the KID cause it seems the best response to me. So if you please can post some of your games and/or links with things to study please help me!

If you wanna beat 1.d4 with black, then play 1.d4 as white. It will help you get a feel for it and it's goals, then you can attack it better as black because you know what to expect.

Very good, generic advice!

Assuming your rating to be accurate, play d5, then e6, Nf6, Be7, 0-0, go from there and try not to drop any pieces.

I love to play d4 πŸ™‚ While playing black, my response to d4 would have been f5, trying to enter a Dutch system, but is has proven to be unreliable at times, so a simple d5, e6, or d5 then dxc4, accepting the gambit would be more appropriate... here are a few games illustrating the ideas behind d4.:

Try the Polish Defense. 1.d4 b5 2.e4 Bb7 3.Bd3. If 3.Bxb5, try 3...f5! Enter the Spassky Gambit! 4.exf5 Bxg2 5.Qh5+ g6 6.fxg6 Bg7 7.gxh7+ Kf8 8.hxg8=Q+ Kxg8! Hit the queen and go up in exchange. White wins four pawns and a knight while black wins two pawns and a rook. It's about an even position. The rest of the game is to be played out. 😏

Game 3241317 I'd rather play 2.e4 and transpose it to the French after 1.d4 e6 because I hate playing against the Dutch. I always play the Staunton Gambit after 1.d4 f5. 😡

The Staunton Gambit goes: 1.d4 f5 2.e4 fxe4 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.Bg5 Nc6! (d5?, 5.Bxf6! exf6 6.Qh5+ g6 7.Qxd5 Qxd5 8.Nxd5 and black is in a world of trouble). After 4...Nc6! 5.d5 Ne5 6.Qd4 Nf7 7.Bxf6 exf6 8.Nxe4 Be7 9.0-0-0 0-0. 😡

With 1. ...e6 2. e4 d5 you can really throw a d4 player out of his game at move two, as the French IS an e4 opening (downside: lots of French players use d4 as white.)

One principle that I like is: Give your opponent what they don't want, but don't hurt yourself doing it.

example: d4 players don't want a bloodbath, so I play the KID. e4 players want a tactical flurry, so I play the more positional Accelerated Dragon Sicilian.

Exactly! I don't see why people have such trouble with d4 when the Nimzo and Queen's Indian are rather easy paths to a good game and don't even require much memorization.

This is an easy one... Whenever you run across a line that you have problems with just start playing it against stronger players.

I never play 1.d4, but since I had some problems with it I started playing it against some matches with Expert and Master players. The guys are killing me! 😲

I strongly recommend learning the Nimzo, it's pretty solid. The KID theory is absolutely HUGE, I mean the nimzo has it fair share of theory too but it's less complex IMO. I'm playing the albin against d4 myself for the past 2 or 3 months - which is good OTB, but I wouldn't recommend playing CC.

I don't like the nimzo that much. The bishop pseudo pinning-white's night don't seem to cut it for me. KID has a lot of theory but that is the one i want to concentrate for now. It seems like the most reasonable response for black. Don't ask me why...

Some people said to transpose it to a french defense game. That seems to be a good idea, but playing the french as black doesn't call me that much.

Don't take me wrong on this one please!
