Assuming your rating to be accurate, play d5, then e6, Nf6, Be7, 0-0, go from there and try not to drop any pieces.
I think my actual strenght is around 1400 but some people ha ve already told me that I'm possibly a 1600. Maybe in a couple of months I'll agree with them once I take off all of this rust!

it's not just about pinning, it's (IMO) based on doubling whites pawns and then using your knights.

Yes. But are those doubled pawns really a weakness?

Game 3349814

I lost the game, but it wasn't because of the opening. Missing Qxa1 was a terrible oversight and I played a horrendous endgame.

that depends on game and how it's played. I would say it can be more of a nuisance than a weakness in general, depending on how black exploits the queenside.

And that's because I don't feel that comfortable giving up a bishop for a knight. The doubled pawns are well positioned and open up a file for the rook. That seems to be a good compensation.

fair point, but you can't rule out the nimzo based on that only. I believe the KID is better, in fact some of the best games I've ever seen were KID games. But all that pawn pushing wrecks my head! 🙂

That's right. And the nimzo can't be that bad if Nimzo[insert rest of the name here] played it. But I'm not on his level.

And it's the pawn pushing I want to learn on the KID. But i always mess up! 😞

Never the less an educating game. Thanks for posting it!

anybody playing the dutch? I'm thinking about giving it a try, the leningrad way. I'd like to find a dvd with video lectures on it, but so far not much luck with that. there's a chessbase dvd by Boris Schipkov, but it doesn't seem to have any video, which I'd far prefer to text. it's just so much faster to grasp the ideas when you see the pieces moving and hear the reasoning at the same time.

andrew martin seems to have one in the fox dvd series, anyone have that?

any other dvds on leningrad?

that's also one reason why I'm looking for material. 🙂

Some people said to transpose it to a french defense game. That seems to be a good idea, but ...[text shortened]... the french as black doesn't call me that much.

Don't take me wrong on this one please!
Oh give me a break, modern grandmasters, common sense and even engines all indicate that the Nimzo/Queen's Indian are at least as reasonable as the KID. If you're worried about any not being strong enough, I think you should worry about the KID. (although I think it's fine)

I neversaid that they aren't. Read my posts carefully and use all of that anger in some positive way.
