Assuming your rating to be accurate, play d5, then e6, Nf6, Be7, 0-0, go from there and try not to drop any pieces.

Yes. But are those doubled pawns really a weakness?
I lost the game, but it wasn't because of the opening. Missing Qxa1 was a terrible oversight and I played a horrendous endgame.

that depends on game and how it's played. I would say it can be more of a nuisance than a weakness in general, depending on how black exploits the queenside.
Originally posted by adam warlockfair point, but you can't rule out the nimzo based on that only. I believe the KID is better, in fact some of the best games I've ever seen were KID games. But all that pawn pushing wrecks my head! 🙂

And it's the pawn pushing I want to learn on the KID. But i always mess up! 😞

anybody playing the dutch? I'm thinking about giving it a try, the leningrad way. I'd like to find a dvd with video lectures on it, but so far not much luck with that. there's a chessbase dvd by Boris Schipkov, but it doesn't seem to have any video, which I'd far prefer to text. it's just so much faster to grasp the ideas when you see the pieces moving and hear the reasoning at the same time.
andrew martin seems to have one in the fox dvd series, anyone have that?
any other dvds on leningrad?

I don't like the nimzo that much. The bishop pseudo pinning-white's night don't seem to cut it for me. KID has a lot of theory but that is the one i want to concentrate for now. It seems like the most reasonable response for black. Don't ask me why...
Some people said to transpose it to a french defense game. That seems to be a good idea, but ...[text shortened]... the french as black doesn't call me that much.
Don't take me wrong on this one please!
