As white, I have a: 3-1-1 record
As black, I have a: 11-3-0 record

Seems to me white is overated, as I am just as good/bad with any color. Thoughts?

Too early to tell. The sample size is too small.

Your win% is currently 60% as white and 73% as Black. If you win one more white game, that changes to 67% while for Black it's 75%. Lose a game as white and it comes down to 50% while for black it's 68%. So, if you win one more white game and lose a black game, you'll have a similar record in either colour.

Interesting. I've never looked at those stats before. Looking at them now, I'm surprised -- I expected my white win record to be stronger, and my black loss record to be more lopsided:

white w: 148 d: 25 l: 148
black w: 135 d:26 l:163

That's very strange.

My record is +35-12=26 as White and +46-15=30 as Black. W/L ratio is around 3 in each case.

I think starting colors are not an issue at our level, think about how often we hang pawns... does a half-move tempo make that much of a difference?

My win / draw / loss figures are as follows:
White: 50 3 34 Black: 45 7 28

Without getting a calculator I reckon that my win to loss ration as black is better than as white.

As the difference between a player and their opposition is typically far greater than the difference between the same player as white or black, any white advantage will be hard to find.

Still it is interesting never the less.

I like to see general stats on a number of things for all players and games:

- win draw loss as white and black
- the distribution of ratings - is it normally distributed?
- a graph of the number of active players over time
- the number of new active players in the last month
- the percentage of games played as Lopex, Sicilian, unclassified etc

my performance for the record, as white: 29/4/9 as black: 25/3/8

Play nine more games as white. Then lets see how you did.

I think the color advantage is overrated too.

Also take into account there might be a psychological effect. We might have different styles of play depending on which side we play.

White +27 =2 -11 is 71.8%
Black +37 =2 -6 is 86.4%

That's a pretty significant difference, but it's at least partially explained by the fact that I have played a lot of unrated games against lower-rated players. I'm usually Black in those games.
