If you could introduce a new chess rule/move, what would it be? Or is the game perfect? What if you could get rid of one? I know some have been introduced, have any been scrapped? I mean relatively recent changes and not any variants.
As for a new rule, getting a queen by moving your king to the other side, would stop a lot of draws

As far as the moves of the pieces, I'd like rooks to be able to move diagonally too... oh wait... 🙂
In all seriousness, any change to how the pieces move, no matter how slight, would change the nature of the game and all the study that's gone into the game would be near worthless.

I have no idea if that was sarcasm or not... You're mocking me, aren't you? 🙂
I played a game a while back with queens in the front row. It was carnage. It was also incredibly easy as white

Pawns.
Pawns want to be Queens - OK.
Get rid of all the pawns and replace them with Queens.

There. Let the carnage begin.
