I've managed to tack on about 50 more points to my rating today, and got my success rate up to 65%...so what have I learned? That server's addicting!

Slow tactics!
Robots do not operate in the cold, thus I would destroy it.

This is the way I think of it. If you prefer fast tactics then fine.

But in OTB, I get 2 hours for the game. CC as much as I want.

My average game lasts around 25 moves. Say 5 are opening moves, several forced moves-recaptures, Several ending moves-trading down pieces.

So maybe in the whole game, there would be only several times where you require a lot of though.

120 minutes to make like 20 obvious moves plus 5 hard moves. Thus, you have adequate time to solve those hard problems. I spend maximum 5 minutes on the tactics, look at the solution then do it again later on. I've read on Gm sites that they advise this also.

So besides getting better at blitz, I don't see a point of doing fast tactics.

5 minutes x 25 moves = 125 minutes appox 2 hours.

Slow tactics I say.

O ya, I saw those on tv 2 days ago! Jackets with propare tank attached to them. They heat you up real good.

You know those super computers with liquid cooling? Same principle but computer = human, and instead of cooling = heating.

You can't find me through all the snow. There's no maps where I live, no roads, GPS nothing.

It's like finding a polar bear up in the north ->Impossible.

BOO YA.

i've been up yer way before.

I also agree with you about slow tactics.

I am currently forcing my rating to an alltime low due to quick moves!

Is there a 5 second rule for eating outa the trash?

Agh, you're stubborn - clearly the best way is to do BOTH fast and slow tactics. About 5 slow a day, and a bunch of fast tactics. After doing about 60 fast tactics today I feel like I have better tactical vision in my PC games, which will hopefully stop my horrible rating drop on RHP.

All I can tell you is don't drink while doing cts puzzles. That dropped my rating from about 1550 down to around 1500. I am zebano there as well.

I've noticed 2-4 beers actually improves my results, but after that it's pure downward spiral...

Wrong again.

What is the difference between slow tactics and fast tactics?

The users strenght.

Like I have said time and time again, 1000 puzzles 7 times. First time I did them I took 28 hours, on the 6th time I did them all in 8 hours.

Why could I do them all in 8 hours? Because my tactical vision was better and the patterns stuck into my head.

The first time I did them, my tactics weren't as good thus it was like slow tactics. But onces I improved I could do the same puzzle faster.

Fast tactics are what? Mate in 1, and 2?

Better off doing hard puzzles slowly.

That's like you consistenly beating up on players 500 points below you. I'm sure you will get really good at chess doing that. Really good.

Do what you want. I'm just telling you my opinion.

Case closed.

Puzzles online or from a book. Set up a board or not. Doesn't matter.

The only thing that matters is you do it all in your head. If you set up a board you aren't allowed to move the pieces till you have it solved.

Case Closed.

Stupid CTS, has anyone else had it happen where you try to click a piece - because you KNOW the answer, but it refuses to highlight? Happened to me about 3 times in a row today before I stopped. Really made me mad.
