Originally posted by OsseThank you. Exactly. Because I analyse on seperate board(s) the check(s) is to ensure that I have transferred the position correctly. The whole point of this was in explanation of the game ( #6 ) that GB posted that shows my blunder, and to point out that even with some systems in place to prevent this, in a rash moment and by not following my little rules mistakes occur. Thats all it was and, really, I didn't need to do this and if some of you are going to get all anal about it then I wont bother in future.
Actually I think Skeeter was using the rules to ensure - when inputting a move from a separate board - that the position analysed was right and therefore the move is really the one intended. That was, imo, the point of the story attached.
So not that suprising, shurely?

So, if you are going to write a post-it note in order to help verify that you've analysed the right position, you write a note with "look at the position of both kings"? So it doesn't matter if the queens were placed wrong? etc. etc. Your logic is not justifying the exact statement: "look at the position of both kings".

Chess players are the oddest people I know.
They have lucky pens, lucky shirts, always take the same route to a chess club,
touch all their pieces before a game. (Tartakower always use to pat both
Rooks on the head before making his first move).
They (we) all have wee secret little 'things' that we/they do before or during
a chess game. Some admit it, others keep it a secret.
The best known is Karpov who never washed his hair during a tournament.
I never write '0-0' when I castle. I always write 'Z00M' (and Z000M for Q-side
castling). I wrote it once for a laugh aout 30 years ago, played a brillo and
have been doing it ever since.
I have a very good friend who is an IM. time permitting, after each move he
makes a small dot on the top of his score sheet.
This is him doing his checks all checks (and what ever else it is these good
guys think of) routine. An OTB Chess International Master with a tick off list!
So having a crip sheet on the side of the screen when you may no longer
need it is nothing to be surprised at. Removing it would be bad karma.
It's what ever works for you.
If you try to start analysing all the idiosyncrasies that chess players have
then the psychiatrists are going to have a field day.

Well done Skeeter. Well done. Congratulations on your accomplishment and enjoy! 🙂

Jesus wept, what a parade of boo-boo's and all to a sub 1200 no less. Put some systems of your own in place before slating mine.
