sorry if i should know this, i'm new on here... its just that a player has timed out and i can take the win; its just that we were having a nice chat during the game and during the chat i said i might not be able to move for a while and he said dont worry, i wait for you, i wont take the time out; i did move within the time limit in the end thought but now he hasnt! hmmmm... however, i have won the game, only pawns and my queen left; should i still let him move or take the win, thanks?

Wait. If you time him out and encounter him again in a Clan, tournament or siege game, how would you ever be able to look him in the eye?

No, it'll just hang, so you will have to claim it eventually in the unlikely event that he doesn't move - but give it a week or two and keep sending a few reminders. The reality is that you'll probably play hundreds of games on here - there aren't many people who don't immediately take timeouts, so what difference will waiting a little longer make?

Your opponent probably knows the rules better than you, and waiting for a couple of weeks is more generous than many players would be.
Remind him/her once, and if there is no response take the game.

If he is moving in other games, PM him then take the time out. If he is genuinely away wait for him a reasonable time as he would have done for you.

How do you know he is genuinely away?
