Most people on here don't seem to want to talk to each other, that's fine and should be res ...[text shortened]... f back there if I like it so much... whereas all I'm trying to do is give a balanced view.

What's up with timeforchess.com. It's a mirror image (or should I say green image) of this site. What gives?

What's the difference apart from the colour?

That's just it, it's remarkably similar, yet it does differ. Besides a different color scheme, it has a somewhat different layout. But the players are the same as the players at RHP! Why would there be a duplicate site of RHP? I don't get it.

I think it's just a way to appeal to everyone. Some people like certain layouts and colors better and feel more comfortable playing on those sites. So this way they can choose the site they like the best and play on there, instead. It's 100% same except the layout and color, i think. You don't have to come up with a new name or register again. (Actually you had better not since that is against the rules and will get you banned) Just log on with your current name and password and you can play on those sites too. Click "my games" and your games on redhotpawn will be on those sites too. Also be sure to check out "chessatwork.com" and "playtheimmortalgame.com" if you thought "timeforchess" was neat. πŸ™‚

I think it's a brilliant idea, actually. This way everyone can be happy. πŸ™‚

p.s. good luck in finding a favorite! πŸ™‚

RHP is nice, but my favorite is Chessworld.net. While not as pretty as RHP, it has the fullest range of features for chess players. I also find it to have more of a hardcore chess community than RHP.

If I logged on to redhotpawn.com from the office, the IT admins might come round asking if I was accessing inappropriate sites. The name could set off their porn site alarm. When they came to investigate they would see it was all fairly innocent, but they might also start asking if I should be playing chess in the office. So I use chessatwork.com and nobody bothers me.

GK has better advertising (it comes up first on google). But, don't be deceived by its apparent popularity. At any given time, there are more pending open challenges at RHP.

Also quantity is a poor measure of quality, unless you really think that McDonalds has the best food, and Walmart the best clothes, camping gear, garden supplies, CDs, etc.
