I noticed ICC was saving my games in the Blitzin folder on my harddrive.
The games are saved as pgn. and i can open them in chessbase.
Not only can i replay the moves in cbase interface, but i get a pie chart, and breakdown of my winning percentage, and elo performance.
I play mostly 5 min, in the 5 min random, and Surprisingly i score better with black! By about 8%!
So much for whites advantage....
It could be that most blitz players press, with white, and overextend themselves. or maybe im just more knowledgeable with the black pieces.
I play kings indian, or modern, and sicillian. Just experimenting with colle, and torre attack for white.
My rating with black is 1652. But this is 5min, and the random setting only, so i guess this rating to be about 200 points lower then regular blitz (on ICC)
Dont know if this applies to other time controls. It would make better sense if it was for each time control.
Seems like a great idea, this is why it seems worth the $$.
For serious internet players, ICC, is the place to play

But playchess does this too. And you get that free when you purchase an engine.
EDIT: And the interface is better.
Icc is better then playchess, as in admin communication.
Try talking to someone at playchess.
Speechen de doich ? not me.
I was getting terrible lag, at playchess, seems like i needed a high bit graphics card to play there, or live closer to germany.
Playchess is allright, but ICC is better for this American.
A lot of players at my chess club have both ICC and Playchess. They pay for ICC and have the 1 year free subscription that comes with Fritz. They all tell me that Playchess has the better interface, but ICC is better for the serious chess player. My 1 year just ran out on Playchess, so I will probably end up getting ICC now.
Playchess is much better than ICC. It has a muuuuch better interface, all the games you play or even look at are automaticly saved, comes with all the happy charts and percentages that you want also to buy an account is much cheaper at playchess than ICC.......$34 Playchess compared to $49 at ICC.
As was pointed out playchess has an international community. Its not uncommon for people to be talking in German there.....*shrugs* Maybe thats scares some people. I dont speak German and chat there a lot.
Besides Kasparov is seen around Playchess, he probably wouldnt be seen dead on ICC 😛
Not to mention that ICC admins are total power freak gimps.
Playchess is growing and will continue to do so simply because its released with every Fritz GUI program ICC cant compete with that in the long run its only a matter of time till ICC goes the way of Chess21 etc. The fritz interface improves with each new upgrade the latest one is quite quirky.......tell you that the sun has risen....like I couldnt look out of the window......tells you the temperature etc....nice clicking on one of the Russians and seeing that Morzoviech is freezing his balls off in -10c weather 😛
Originally posted by Bedlammy point about the german, is no communication with admins, in english, or doutch.

the ICC admins are underpaid (free) so why else would they help?
So let them have their trip, at least you can get an answer most of the time when you need help.
Try getting that from fritz.
The interface is terrible...Its too confusing.
Just like the software. You need to be a techie to understand it.
ICC is easier to use, and play at by far.
Originally posted by GrandmousterAll the playchess admins speak English. At least 3 of the Playchess admins are rated over 2000 in real life, they are people who know chess.

Playchess's interfact craps over ICC's from a high height. You can pick from loads of 2d boards....create your own designs or you can have a range of 3d boards. You can change the colour scheme of the program is you dont like it. The rooms are all very well laid out and easy to find/use.
Playchess gives people in poor countries free full accounts and doesnt require normal players to play...you can make a 30 day id let it run out then make another and so on, if you cant afford the yearly membership status.
Originally posted by BedlamYou can do that?! Why does anyone bother to pay then?

Originally posted by cmsMasterHm. Theres limitations placed on the free accounts. They need to get a bishop status before they get the full membership benfits. Basicly things you cant do with the free accounts is create private chess training rooms or chat in the general chat. Also every 30 days you will have to create a new account. However once you hit bishop rank on your free account its basicly being the same as a paid member.

I paid because the site is fab....hearing Yasser Seirawan do live commentary of San Luis (something I did for free at that time) convinced me playchess was a site to join and be around. They had a video broadcast running at Wijk aan Zee with Yasser interviewing the players in front of the camera....bless, Carlsen looked soooo cute as Yasser was giving him presents hehehehe and to hear people like Adams give their comments on the game they was just playing 30 seconds ago.....gosh......fantastic.

Originally posted by cmsMasterYou dont need the full fritz, playchess do a free client copy of it, even comes with F8, although you do need to be logged into playchess and in a training room to use it 🙂

Just search your pc for "myinternetgames"
They should be in C:\My Documents\chessbase
maybe C:\My Documents and Settings\WinXP ID\My Documents\chessbase
There should also be MyInternetKibitzing there which is anything you looked at on playchess.
Anything you play in the normal offline fritz will be saved to "AutoSave"

I had looked all through the client for a way to save games automatically - I had no idea it was being done secretly.
Thanks for the heads up.

I think Chess base light will or something like Arena (www.playwitharena.com) not sure if arena will read the cbh saved databases tho.....
