I guess peoples version of "good move" on playchess comes in form of applause and good evaluations, something that can be sent regardless of language barriers etc.

I guess ...[text shortened]... sit around and talk about the game analyze it in detail and give kudos for good moves/ideas.
I don't know if they do it in rated games. I only play as a guest on ICC. But in any case, I like this kind of interaction.

In ICC try to put in your profile or talking about in chat that playchess is a great place to play.......the admins will tell you to remove it......in Playchess put in your profile or even yap in general chat about how fantastic ICC is and the admins will do nothing at all.....we could really have this debate on ICC because I would have already of been muted 😛
I'm not all that surprised that they don't allow advertising, particularly when what's advertised is their biggest competitor.

Playchess wouldnt allow pure advertising.....well I dont think so...they are very lenient most of the time, but this debate would be fine on there. On ICC I would have been told off and have been for a lot less 🙂

I had the PC url in my fi notes for weeks. The admins on ICC, suspended my rated games, because they said i was losing games to sandbag my rating?
I played at PC for a month, and ICC finaly let me play rated games again. No one said anything about that.
The admins may be overlord, and overboard, but at least there running the show. Try getting any help at PC or yahoo??

You dont need a rank to join a tournament on playchess, just a bishop rank to create one.......which is stupidly simple to get 100 games and 1400 rating. Super duper wuper easy to join on going tournaments.

Most players on Playchess have chatted with the chess elite or played them they are human too and are often quite friendly, its not a big deal.
Maybe you played him in a simul, which he got paid to do. Did you chat with him, while he was ob a game on ICC?
He was hanging out with mere mortals on ICC. Doubt he cares to hang at PC.

One question about Playchess, Is there a better way to accept challenges? I'm not sure If I'm being stupid and missing something, but choosing a game to play from the seek table is like catching a fly in chopsticks. Is there a seek graph anywhere?

For all the hype about playchess's interface, I found myself unable to do simple things like create an examined game from scratch that others can watch (and move pieces, if they wish).

No I played him one on one I didnt pay him either......

Kamsky is always at Playchess, bit like Kasparov is often around.......when was the last time Kasparov logged into ICC? 😛

Sounds just like something they would do. I dont know how you didnt manage to get help on Playchess, given that the admins are paid to be there.

Press formula......it allows you to filter challenges. Or just make your own challenge with the settings you want.

I have both ICC and Playchess. If you want to play at night in the U.S., ICC has lots more clients since most of the Germans and other Europeans are asleep. Even in the daytime i prefer ICC because it seems faster. As for the graphics, I like FICS with Babbaschess figurines. Looks great. The trouble is there aren't near as many players on the site. As for the level of competition (at average level) FICS has the toughest players. I don't know why that is, but of the three ratings FICS is my lowest so I assume everybody else will have the same ratio. Of course, ICC and Playchess have live relays, etc. FICS doesn't have any of that, but on the other hand it's free. I bought fritz 7 years ago and i always play free there. ICC i pay every 6 months, so it isn't so bad. If you want a detailed comparison, chech Wulbgr' s site. I'm not sure of spelling, but he's a player on RHP and is objective. Basically, it's a trade-off. I don't think ICC will disappear soon, like 21. It actually makes money. Nowadays lots of people play on line and don't go to tournaments and eat stale sandwiches and wander around some motel for hours waiting for the next game. Sad but true.

FICS must have the toughest competition because your rating is lowest there? That doesn't actually logically follow.
