Hello there, I joined only recently, but I've played chess for a number of years. Doesn't it get on your nerves when a person has absolutely no chance of winning, but they insist on playing the lsat few moves long after any chance of winning has subsided?
I was playing one person who had a ranking of about 150 points higher, and he had no chance. The next day, his ranking was 50 points lower. The only diff is that he was losing badly both days, and he should have realized that he was deader than fried chicken, resigned, and taken his loss.
I wanted those points, and he cost me a big chunk of cheese by playing out a game he had no chance of winning. Frigging irritating!
SOOOO, I ask you, fellow chess enthusiasts, what are your chess pet peeves?

I'm not usually as whiny, but stuff like this bugs me. Feel free to flame me as you like, but people who are totally DEAD MEAT should be smart enough to realize when they're done. The dude has played like 2,000 games here, as opposed to myself who just broke 20.

Ragnorak:
I'm sure he thought he was just lining up another easy win, and in fact he has more like 3,000 games...but it's not hard to figure out that when you are down to a couple of pawns and your opponent has a rook, knight, and a number of pawns, you're dead meat...especially when your position is crappy.
I guess a positive that can be gained is that the fellow is tenacious, but after that many games, he should have figured out the fact that he's toast. He has guts for trying to persevere, but he's outgunned.
Ah well...so what are your pet peeves, other than whiny first-time posters? 🙂

True that, I guess I could get him in three or four moves if he continues to play as he has, but I think that instead I'll peel off all his pieces and leave him destitute. Perhaps he's worried about losing face since he's the leader of a clan?
Ah well, so what bugs you in a chess game?
