Because I despise people who feel like their opponent ever owes them a resignation. It's one of my chess pet peeves, which is what this thread is about no?

The only peeves I have are with myself. My opponent has to be respected, but I have less time for my own errors, and I get particularly irritated when I fall victim to traps that look, smell and feel like traps, but lay bait which is far too tempting.

And that is exactly why he is right not to resign a lost position. People mess up.

You just admitted to playing chess drunk, which makes it an even better idea for him to hold on for dear life. On top of that, anytime there is a chance for a stalemate or a win given a not too severe screw up by your opponent, don't resign. Lots of games can be salvaged by being tenacious. This is espcially true if your not resigning pisses off your opponent, makes him more likely to screw up.

I hate it when people resign early. It takes all the fun out of winning.

Even loaded, I couldn't screw that game up. Still, the opponent doesn't know that so I definitely see your point!

It appears that the point of the thread you reference has flown so far over your head as to miss the silly little hat you wear on top of your donkey costume!

Well said, and you beat me too it because I'm such a slacker. 😉

Sometimes I wonder why someone that is dead lost drags out a game, but I'm not bothered by it except when I'm in a hurry to show the entire game to one of my chess pupils, or to my teacher. It must be over before I can discuss it.

If my opponent wants to play to mate, I can make certain that happens as rapidly as possible.

How do you gank a player when you are his opponent? Guess you are I do not know what gank means.

Ganking means to assassinate or kill. That's the definition I am familiar with.
