Ok. Let me regather here....

If they were able to reach a person in each of the apartments upon which
they knock, would they deliver an object to each apartment?

...would they deliver an object to most of the apartments?

...would they deliver an object to some of the apartments?

...would they deliever two or more objects to two or more apartments (respectively)?

or.....are they trying to deliever a single object to a single apartment?

(This is basically one question to narrow down the object/apartment ratio,
but please treat it as individual questions.)

Is/are the person/people who is/are going to receive the object(s) in question
expecting to receive the object(s)?

Is it relevant if the people who answer the door lie or mislead the people that knock?

Is/are the person/people who is/are going to receive the object(s) in question (the "recipient(s)" ) the owner(s) of the object(s) in question?

Did the recipient(s) lose the object(s)?

Are the men trying to return the object(s) to the recipient(s)?

Please confirm: Do the delivery folks have a complete address?

(This includes the apartment number.)

Do they have the correct address?

Are all of the apartments marked in a manner which the
people delivering the object can understand?

(This is asking two things: are they marked, and, if so,
can it be read by the two guys delivering the object.)

Are the doors marked in some unorthodox way such that
the delivery people are confused?

This question is regarding the delivery men's mentality:

Could they have left the object in the truck, van, car or
whatever it came in, knocked on the doors to locate the
appropriate owner and THEN brought the object up?

If I understand correctly:

Two men are trying to deliver an object to a specific person in a specific apartment (flat) in this building. They have the correct address, including the apartment number. The object requires two men to carry it, and as a part of their job, they must enter the apartment they are delivering it to. For some (as yet unknown) reason they knock on every second door in the building.

Correct so far?

Is there a reason why they did not simply proceed to the apartment for which they have an address?
Is that reason relevant?
Is their frustration based on the fact that they have been unable to deliver the object?
Are the delivery men unusal - i.e., are they different from normal human beings?
More specifically, is there something about the delivery men that makes them unable to knock the doors they have not knocked on?
Is the apartment that the object is addressed to one of the apartments they did not knock on?
Is there something about the object that prevents them from knocking on the unknocked doors?

Recap:
Two men are trying to deliver an object to a specific person in a specific apartment (flat) in this building. They have the correct address, including the apartment number. The object requires two men to carry it, and as a part of their job, they must enter the apartment they are delivering it to. For some (as yet unknown) reason they knock on every second door in the building. There is nothing about the men or the object that prevents them from knocking on the correct door, yet there is a reason why they have not. (Correct so far?)

Are the men aware of why they have not knocked on the correct door?
Is there something about the doors they have not knocked on that prevents them from knocking on them?
Are the men able to knock on the correct door?
Is the nature of the object being delivered relevant?
When you say the knock on every second door, does that mean that they skip a door, knock on a door, skip a door, knock on a door, etc.?
More specifically, do they physically pass by the doors they do not know on?
Are the doors skipped generally identical in size, shape, and elevation to the doors knocked on?
Is the apartment building a typical average apartment building?
More specifically, is there something unusual about this apartment building that is relevant to this puzzle?
