Is it something to do with a survey?

If yes...

Did they forget to ask a certain question the first time round?

If yes...

Was the question something to do with the permission to publish that person's name etc?

Is it necessary for them to encounter at least one person in each apartment that they visit?

Is it a necessary part of their job to enter the apartments they visit (that is, a UPS man delivering an envelope need not, but a television repair man would need to )?

Sorry - I think I missed this question

Is it necessary for them to encounter at least one person in each apartment that they visit? YES

Is it a necessary part of their job to enter the apartments they visit (that is, a UPS man delivering an envelope need not, but a television repair man would need to )? YES

Two men enter a block of flats. They knock on every* second door (though the word 'every' needs clarifying - see the bottom), wait for someone to answer at each one, and then they swear and knock on every second door again (the same doors both times - each door they knocked on, they knocked on twice). Then they get very annoyed!
Do the men leave after their second round of knocking (assuming nobody answers either time as the above would have me believe)?

No, they don't leave. You might want to elaborate on your assumptions about answering etc.

Posting this again as I think you missed it... 🙂

After knocking on each door, do they stand there for a while waiting for someone to answer?
Or do they go straight on to the next one without waiting for a reply?
Do they both knock at the same door together (at the same time)?
Are they trying to contact someone in EACH apartment door they knock at?
Or are they looking for one specific person?

Does their swearing concord with their not finding someone behind a door?
Does their job require that two people knock on a door at the same time?
Is their work in some way related to a religious institution?
Is their work in some way related to a state-sponsored institution?

Does their job require that two people knock on a door at the same time? PLEASE CLARIFY "KNOCKING AT SAME TIME"

Ps, I know I have said that they DO knock on the door at the same time, but I've been thinking about it, and it can easily be taken to mean different things, only one of which is right.

My original meaning:

Does the nature of their job require that two people be present when the door in
question gets knocked on (by whichever person)?

The other question:

Do both of them knock on the door at the same time?
