Very click-baity title for this thread!

Of course the telescope has not, in fact, found any aliens. As the article says, the telescope might be able to spot "free oxygen" in the atmospheres of exoplanets, and it is hypothesized that only biological activity can generate free oxygen in detectable quantities.


I'm waiting for Webb to find the tell-tale debris of a water balloon fight. Then we'll know for sure.

Carbon dioxide has been found in the atmosphere of an exoplanet for the first time.
