Would it be possible to display an additional statistic in one's profile showing the average rating of the opponents that one has played? Perhaps the average across the the last three months as well as the average since joining the site?
A would-be opponent's rating is a good indicator, as well as their graph, but I think seeing the average rating of those that they have played may prove even more useful in finding suitable opponents.

statisitcs, the static numbers would be the ratings at the time of play
those would remain a historical fact at the time of play they were this,
and the fluid would be the ratings of those played and what they are
now. Since sometimes we run into a player who is shooting up rating
wise, and falling like a rock in water. The comparison would be nice.

The motive is two-fold: one, to see the level that would-be opponents have been playing at, and - perhaps of more worth to some - two, so that one can keep a track of their own playing record.
I guess if people didn't want to display such a statistic in their profile then they could select not to show it. This would still allow those to show it who wanted to show it, as well as seeing one's own record.
Not a bad idea, but I think it would be a better indicator of performance to see some statistics of opponents you've beaten. One possibility might be the average rating of the last 10 opponents defeated. Another good one would be to see the ratings of the three strongest opponents you've whipped (which could be restricted to the last 12 months).

I would always liked to have seen average rating excluding all timeouts. i.e. if we use dustnrodgers as a example, his overall RHP rating would be around 1500, his average without all the timeouts would be more like 1800. I do think timeouts really distort some players ratings and can give a false impression of ability in both directions.
Far to many people seem to take 4 or 5 timeout victories, and think as their rating has gone up 100 points or so that they have actually improved as a player.
