Here is the position as it stands,
Metallica won 4 games Tolkien clan won 3
Metallica get 8 Gross Points and Tolkien clan get 0
Difference is 8 Net Points for Metallica and -8 for Tolkien
I think we can agree that this does not accurately reflect the play. Tolkien only lost the challenge by a single game and yet they get zero points. Metallica the much stronger clan get all the points. Under the ELO system we get the following
Clan Rating after challenge
1419 (Metallica) 1179 (Tolkien)
Previous rating
1418 (Metallica) 1180 (Tolkien)
Difference
1 (Metallica) -1 (Tolkien)
This is what we would expect when a much stronger clan beats up on a clan that was much weaker.
Now I cite this for all those people that have FAILED to understand why collusion would no longer be viable because instead of getting all the points as it stands at present the stronger clan only gets a measly point. The difference between the Easy Riders and say a clan like Anti-Metallica is even greater than the difference between a clan like Metallica and the Tolkien clan and the incentives for beating up on such a clan are nil. I hope that those who have stated that the ELO system does not prevent collusion will be able to grasp this and refrain from making ill informed assertions about a system they have not taken the time to understand. It may not stop collusion but it most certainly stops any rewards for doing so.
The new ELO system is brilliant because it will force clan leaders to make much fairer challenges and to play clans that are as strong as they are instead of beating up on weaker rated clans all the time.
