How about a way to play with people within x number of miles of your zip code, hopefully leading to more OTB play?

Why on earth would an online chess site want to encourage it's members to go play OTB instead?

Good grief! X would be a variable from a drop-down menu, like in bazillions of websites. Don't you people surf the net?

"X" is the variable. What did they teach you in math?

That could be interesting. Some people would opt out of that just for anonymity sake, but for the others its would be a good way to increase their chess experience. Also, as seen from the RHP meet ups, it would also increase site participation. It may also be a site building tool, as it could draw in some innocent bystanders who have not been to the site.
