Why on earth would an online chess site want to encourage it's members to go play OTB instead?

That could be interesting. Some people would opt out of that just for anonymity sake, but for the others its would be a good way to increase their chess experience. Also, as seen from the RHP meet ups, it would also increase site participation. It may also be a site building tool, as it could draw in some innocent bystanders who have not been to the site.
