Looks like we are having a replay of the delay in last season's 1 day timeout clan league. That discussion appeared in clan forum thread '1/14 League Season 14' where some ideas were presented to address this problem.
The penultimate game in this season's 3 day timeout clan league completed August 29. There is one game outstanding - an endgame with king, knight, and bishop vs. king. There have been 37 half-moves since a pawn moved or piece taken. If no mate, we potentially we have 189 days before a draw can be claimed. This game has no bearing on the league standings. There are 354 players in the current 3 day timeout clan league - I imagine many of us are waiting for a new season to begin.
11 days ago I sent a site feedback message alerting the site administrator to the possibility of this delay happening and asking that he declare the season over. I pointed out that tournaments move to the next round once a round winner is determined and there can be games outstanding (it took a rule change for that to happen). I have not received a response.
At the risk of being called out for harassment, I alerted one of the players thinking he might not be aware that one of his 750 games was holding up the league. Part of his reply, "can not see why new season can not start as this game will not make any difference in the standings."
Site Administrator, please end this season and change the rules so this does not happen in future seasons! (didn't know whether to post in clan forum or site ideas so put it in both)

I can understand your frustration of not being able to move on from this situation. The lack of response from the admins for not resolving this is regrettable.
It is my game which this is being addressed to. All I want to do is play out this game to its “bitter end”, but I do appreciate the situation that everyone is in, I had offered a draw, but it was not accepted, so be it. I do not like resigning early and only do so when I am in an impossible situation and the other player messages me to “capitulate”

Help - You want the admins to help you end the season so you could have posted it in the help forum.
Only Chess - Its about chess games so you could have posted it in this forum too.
Tournaments - You compared clan leagues with tournaments so you could have placed it there.
Posers and Puzzles - Its really kind of a puzzle how to move on with this issue.
Clans - Quite obvious.
Developers - Your idea to set a standard time for leagues (this idea is not in this thread but only in Thread 134038) requires some developping/programming.
Debates - Your idea might have pros and cons so its open for debate.
Site Ideas - Quite obvious again.
Spirituality - Some people might have religious reasons to play games to the bitter end.
Sports - Because chess is a thinking sport.
Culture - Maybe its RHP culture to wait for all games of the season to end.
Clubs Public Forum - Because this forum is so useless it might need a thread once in a while.
Ok...some of these are kinda farfetched:p Whenever you have an idea that requires the site to change, no matter on what part (open invites - tournaments - clanchallenges etc), I would just put it in Site Ideas🙂
Now my opinion on the issue you presented:
I agree to the point where a season should end when a smaller numer of games (<5) are holding it up. 1st, 2nd, 9th and 10th positions in divisions should be decided ofcourse. And ofcourse the remaining games dont end, they can be played out however the players like.
I expect this to make seasons start months earlyer or maybe even years for the longer timecontrol.
I do not like your idea of a set time for every league (this idea of you is only in the other thread). It might give to much timepressure for some people. Besides that the length of a season should be longer when the season is during vacation for example.

I dont like this idea that much. There could still be 50 games or something going when the ranks are already set. I figure its less fun for those players to play all those games out while the next season is already starting.
I think the focus shouldnt be to have an as fast as possible season overturn. The issue are the few (<5) last games that are going slow and hold back the whole season.
This has to be handeled manually because every situation (game) is different. The admins should keep an eye on this, or someone else should and contact the admins. I would like to do that free of charge. Maybe I could get a special title for it, like zozozozo - League Master/Master of the Leagues/League guy/Super awesome fella. 🙂

lol I didnt know the admins needed your permission for that, interesting:p[/b]I think it very unlikely that 50 games could be going with all standings clenched, but even if it DID happen, all my proposal does is alert Russ that standings are clenched. It's still his discretion when to start the next season.

I like this idea if admins would then announce the next season when there are <5 games left which are taking long.
