and the answer:

no, i think this would be cool. unrated FR option to automatically randomize the backrow according to FR rules.

we should have it. i love this site. help me to love it more.

FR would be nice, never tried it, no books!
The only thing for sure is the value of squares, center will still
be top of the mountain, etc. Knights, bishops, queens will still
be strongest in the center so that part of the game will never
change.

You can do almost anything with the "set piece" option. You don't need special types of play for that.

I won't rule it out in the future, so when I re-write the core of RHP, I will make sure it supports FR. This is something I have intended to do due the legacy code in there, but there is no real rush because when it ain't broke, an' all that….

To introduce it now would not be easy though, so don't expect to just appear any time soon.

There is a site which caters very well for those interested in chess variants.

These include FR, and Stanley Random (SR) Chess.

Of course, there's standard (or Simplified Stanley Random) chess too.
