    Russ's site, Russ's Rules.

No likey Russ's Rules then go elsewhere.

Go to Gameknot and try posting some of the things that are posted here, especially anti site owner comments, and see how long you last as a member.

They don't care. How many people are you talking about? 5? 10 at the most? Would you care if you were raking in thousands of subscriptions a year?

That's another gone, User 352109 this one for racists remarks.

Yes kick them off for engine use but for this sort of tripe how about a
    2 year forum ban?

Or better still shut down the Debates and Religious forums it's a breeding
    ground for rabid raving lunatics.

What has politics, race or religion got to do with chess?

Infact shut them all down, just leave the chess forum and site ideas.

And when they have fixed the pgn thingy so Black can go first there won't
be any new ideas left so they can close that down as well.

One big happy family on one big forum.

Gramps dropping in every now and then with his pearls of wisdom
and me showing you diagrams with Black moving first.

    Sheer bliss.

Forum mods don't have the power to ban people from the site. Only admins do. I doubt it was for racist remarks. Much more likely double account, especially if he was forum banned.

Don't like the other forums, don't go there. Simple!

    Hi

He had a brief thread in the chess forum. It there for about an hour.

Some links were posted to some awful statements he made in the Debates Forum.
Most have been deleted. But as you say we don't know.

Sure, but what I'm saying it's that he probably got a long forum ban and then created a second account to continue posting. Second accounts are against the TOS and warrant a site ban.

I've long thought Debates should be shut down. But reading what you just said makes me realize what a dumb idea that really was.

If a user was removed for racist remarks, that is why THEY were removed.

We all have choices we can make, don't shut down a whole forum just because some users want to post a certain way and can't stick to the accepted way of posting at RHP.

OK I was ½ joking but I've just googled 'Debates Forum.'

There are 1,000's of theses things so why have one a chess site?

But I'll live with it, I don't want to spoil anyone's fun.

    Back to topic. Mods.

Most had a front page telling you who the Mods were.

Meet The Mods, Know your Moderators. etc.

    here is one.

    http://www.religiousforums.com/forum/

Unlike here. Why are the Mods in hiding.

Dedicated Forum sites are looked after by named Mods.

Our 'side show' debates forum is manned by......?

On the surface, it seems a bit harsh but I'm not privvy to the actual circumstances. EmL would almost certainly had warnings and either ignored them or circumvented forum suspensions . Total site banning is the last option for admin when all else fails, and they dont take that action lightly.
Believe me, I know all about that.

Dont blame the mods - it's not their call. Only one person to blame for this and now he's gone because he acted stupidly.

The example you gave gives moderator information, sure - but it also says "posts are moderated before they appear" which makes it a whole new ball game. At least our executions are reasonably public.

Right that one was a poorly chosen example.

I would not like the posts on here to wait in a queue to be passed

But it does show you the trouble these 'debate' forums can cause.
That they have this 'wait till it's passed ' rule' in place in the first place.

So why do we invite this kind of trouble on a Chess Site?

Of all the Forum sites I looked at NONE ran games of chess in the background.

Would it be such a big deal if we trashed the Religious and Debates Forum?

Gens Una Sumus (We are one family). That is the FIDE motto.

    Some family.

Christians baiting Muslims, Muslims baiting Jews, Athiests baiting anybody
who dare to express a belief in a religion that may have brought them
comfort in a time of severe despair.

And debates about the earthquakes, floods, murders, rapes....,,wait....
I'll just cut and paste the top five topics from the RHP debates forum.

    A letter from CatholicVote.org .
    Auschwitz
    Kissinger most disgraceful 20thC U.S.statesman?
    Is zeeblebot a spambot?
Another nut weighs in on Haitian earthquake

What has this got to do with chess?

So I get told 'don't go there if you don't like it'.

But I am there. I'm talking chess with some lad and it's all nice and friendly
next minute someone piles in because in the debates forum this lad has
denied the holocaust or wants to rape a horse.

Do you really think the bile and the hatred that these forums bring out do not
spill over onto the other forums.

If these people, these nameless people who hide behind the ananomity granted
tp them by a chess site, want to spout off then there 100's, nay 1,000's of
    other forums out there.

Go there and scream from the rooftops. Here we play chess.

    Gens Una Sumus

Edit1: see my post in Thread 125429

A CHESS site that asks you NOT to post anthing poilitical or religious
and it names it's Mods. (Go there then? Nah, I like it here).

    😴

There's a lot more than bile in those forums. For the tenth time, if you want to stick to chess, stick to chess and leave the rest of the forums alone. If anything, the spill into chess only is minimal.

You guys are looking for entertainment in the wrong place if you are going to debates and expecting the ABC morning show.
